Hi, im considering setting up a web design %26amp; development business. Im looking to do the work myself and employ some permanent employees to do the work. BUT before i go into this i want to know how can i get clients? I know there is a market out there which needs websites etc and i can do the work but how to get clients?
Most importantly how do i get the first major client?

Advertise. You need to put an ad in the local classified newspaper (Greensheet, Pennysaver, etc...). If you are truly serious get a phone number in the yellow pages.
You may start by doing some work for free. See if your church or local nonprofit organization has a website or needs updates to it. You can use them as a reference when you get your first client. Most people want to see a sample of your work before they hire you.
