Where is web design headed in terms of programming languages?

I have been completely out of web design for over six years and have no idea what direction it is headed. I'm interested in dabbling in it again, but feeling a little too lazy to research what languages I should learn or relearn. With broadband access allowing such high use of audio, video, etc. what languages are best suited for the web now and in the future? From a language point of view, where is web design headed?

Where is web design headed in terms of programming languages?
If you are coming at this from a design point of view then I would say CSS and Flash. Flash has its problems because it not friendly for search engine optimization (SEO) so if that is a concern for your customers then it should be used only for banners, videos, photo galleries, etc. If you will be creating dynamic websites then you should learn to use Cold Fusion from Adobe. It is currently the fastest growing server side technology. It is considered excellent for the web because it is robust and it can easily integrated with web pages. JavaScript is the Client side programming language of choice and is widely used as a less powerful but more SEO friendly alternative for dynamic sites than Flash.

Because search engine optimization is a major issue linked cascading style sheets should be utilized and old HTML tags and properties such as %26lt;center%26gt; %26lt;big%26gt; and others should be avoided. HTML is the main building block of most web pages and should be your main study. However the above listed technologies will give your pages flare, power, and the ability to be dynamic.
