What book is recommended for learning web design?
Try your local library - the books are free! I like the "Dummies" series of books.

Web Design for Dummies (Paperback)

by Lisa Lopuck

HTML 4 For Dummies (Html 4 for Dummies) (Paperback)

by Ed Tittel, Mary Burmeister
Reply:Try this ebook:

Reply:Microsoft (free domain and hosting for life) , Google (Googlepages, Blogger) , Yahoo (Geocities), Freewebs are some of the companies offering free websites with design tools . A list of free websites with features and links is available at http://tinyurl.com/lw7kp
Reply:Later on, you should definitely learn CSS.

I liked "CSS: The missing manual". Search it on Amazon.
Reply:I will recommend you to learn HTML, JavaScript, DHTML etc online first then go about purchasing a book for your specific requirement. A very interactive URL for this is www.w3schools.com
Reply:If it was me, I would go to a used bookstore that deals in collage text books and see if i could find a book in introduction to web design.

Sometimes they have ones from alternate collages like academy of learning or tech schools.

School text books have a good step by step learning for any thing they teach
Reply:(X)HTML %26amp; CSS is absolutely the way to go... Once you get beyond the basics, you should definitively get your hands on "CSS Mastery" (Cameron Moll, Andy Budd, Simon Collison)..
